The Gesualdo Six with the Giovanni Consort, Voyces & William Barton
The Gesualdo Six have earned an international reputation for their broad-ranging repertoire, moving with ease from Renaissance to contemporary music. For this Perth Festival concert they are joined by local choirs The Giovanni Consort and Voyces to perform choral masterpieces including Thomas Tallis’ 40-part motet Spem in Alium on the 450th anniversary of its composition.
The acoustic of Winthrop Hall will be transformed into a reverberant cathedral space as works from ancient masses are sung alongside compositions from virtuoso didgeridoo player William Barton and a new commission based on Beethoven’s Ode to Joy from local composer Cara Fesjian.
