Lurch & Chief Australian Tour
Lurch & Chief Australian Tour. Lurch & Chief will be performing in Geelong, Melbourne, Ballarat Central, Adelaide, Warrnambool, Sydney, Newtown - Sydney, Canberra, Newcastle, Brisbane, Byron Bay, Bunbury - Perth, Margaret River, North Fremantle - Perth and Perth city.
We are thrilled to announce that in support of their much anticipated sophomore EP Breathe Melbourne’s chaotic six-piece neo-psych band Lurch & Chief will take their much-celebrated live show on a massive 15-date national tour, taking in capital cities and regional dates around Australia.
Lurch & Chief formed as a creative outlet for a group of close friends Alexander Trevisan (Lurch), Hayden Somerville (Chief), Lilibeth Hall, Brendan Anderson, Joel Rennison and Josh Lane in late 2012. Hayden and Lilibeth share lead vocals in the group, two singers from complete opposite ends of sonic spectrum, balancing to form a cohesive sound.
In a smoke-filled, hazy warehouse party in Melbourne’s south-side, Lurch & Chief burst onto the scene in their typically chaotic style to a sold out show. The six-piece independently released a debut EP, Wiped Out, featuring their first ever single ‘We Are The Same’ (which reached #174 in triple j’s hottest 200 for 2013) and fan favourite ‘Mother/Father’.
In November 2014 the band independently released standalone track ‘Keep It Together’ along with a video shot and directed by their close friend and emerging visual artist Danny Cohen (Mac DeMarco, Chela)
In 2015, Lurch & Chief return with their sophomore EP Breathe, their first through Illusive, the inspiration for the title coming from the basic calming method of “breathing out”. The work is a little darker, a little more seasoned and a massive stride into carving their unique sound.
The EP was produced by the legendary Lindsay Gravina (Roland S Howard, Magic Dirt, Violent Soho) and continues a long-term collaboration with Gravina, expanding their dynamic sound into a darker, swirl psych soundscape.
Breathe was written and recorded in the band’s spiritual home of Halls Gap, Victoria. The EP’s lead single ‘Fading Out’ saw co-vocalist Lilibeth Hall taking the lead as the band flaunted their nostalgic garage-pop side, highlighting an evolution and new depth which listeners can expect from the upcoming five-track release.
