Puccini and His Contemporaries: The final decade of the 19th century saw an explosion of operas, many of which are still regularly performed today. Most of these works were composed by a new generation; the most famous of these composers is Giacomo Puccini but his contemporaries also produced operas which are among the world's most popular. Men such as Ruggero Leoncavallo, Pietro Mascagni, Umberto Giordano and others, along with Puccini produced some of opera's most enduring hits.
Join us for an exploration of this fascinating period full of great melodies and drama. The course will make extensive use of recordings and DVDs.
As this course is already underway, pro-rata enrolments and drop in classes are available.
